Finding healthy holiday recipes can be a challenge, but what’s tougher than a week-old drumstick is finding diabetic recipes your kids will love.
Children’s Health recommends the collection of traditional holiday recipes collected by the American Diabetes Association.
“The entire family can enjoy these recipes together so there is no need to make two of each dish,” says Deborah Stern, RD, LD, CDE, diabetes educator, Children’s Health Endocrinology Clinic. “All it takes is a little planning and carbohydrate counting to make the perfect diabetes-friendly meal.”
Each recipe has the nutrition facts listed and includes carbs and sugar counts per serving, in addition to other nutrition information.
Here are some examples of Thanksgiving diabetic recipes your kids will love:
- Herb-Roasted Turkey
- Scalloped Potatoes
- Sage Stuffing
- Gluten-Free Pumpkin Bread
- Mini Pumpkin Tarts
- Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies
- Gingerbread Cookies
