In honor of Nurses Week, Christy Corey shares her daughter’s journey and attributes her survival with Children’s nurse Kerry Wilder.
During delivery, Christy and baby Aarlyn suffered a placenta abruption – they were both hemorrhaging. After being stabilized at the local hospital, Aarlyn was careflighted to Children’s where a Neonatal ICU team waited for her. Aarlyn was on a ventilator and placed on a cooling blanket for 72 hours to decrease swelling in her brain.
“The blanket saved her life,” says Kerry, Aarlyn’s primary nurse.
Christy Corey knows that the blanket saved Aarlyn’s life, but she also credits Kerry.
I couldn’t have asked for a better nurse,” says Christy. “My baby loves Kerry and Aarlyn is only here because of her.”
