If you’ve experienced exceptional care from a Children’s nurse, please help us say thank you and nominate a nurse for D Magazine’s 2014 “Excellence in Nursing” award. Nominations are open through 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6.
A century ago, a group of nurses led by May Forster Smith organized the Dallas Baby Camp, an open-air clinic on the lawn of the old Parkland Hospital. These visionary nurses were the founders of what we know today as Children’s Medical Center.
The dedication to the mission of making life better for children is just as strong in our Nursing Department today as it was in 1913. Children’s nurses are highly skilled, highly trained and highly acclaimed. Even more importantly, they offer compassionate care to our patients and families each and every day.
