Wildcats Fight Rival For Playoffs

Lake Highlands When the Wildcats kickoff against Jesuit Friday night, they’ll be one team with one goal: defeating their cross-town rivals and securing a spot in the playoffs.

Lake Highlands is currently knotted in a three-way tie for 2nd place in District with Jesuit Prep and Richardson High. The Cats trounced the Eagles last week, so a win against the Rangers would give the Cats an advantage in head-to-head competition.

Cats are Clawing for a Secure Spot in the Playoffs

Besides, there’s a special kind of glee that comes when you win against old friends, and many Jesuit players, students and coaches hail from the heart of LH.

No doubt Jesuit scouts have had their eye on Wildcat standouts, like Kent Perkins, a top UT recruit who’s been invited to play in the upcoming Army All-American Bowl. Senior quarterback Trent Jones is a dual threat, with several great runs from scrimmage and spectacular touchdown passes this season. LHHS has a swarming defense, anchored by Ben Laurent, Jonathan Garza, Nick Thurman, Reggie Marshall and Carter Bodell, and individual performances by running backs Elbert Landry, Tyler Hughes and Darian Morris have thrilled the crowds.

If you attend the game, be warned. Wildcat fans love their football, and the entire community turns out for the fun. LH may be in the heart of Dallas, but on Friday nights it feels like Small Town, USA.
