Will the Chargers Take Charge of Keller?

Keller Central ChargersThis week, we face Keller. The rivalry against Keller is HUGE in every sport, but football draws the largest crowd so it creates the most intensity. It’s about our pride, respectability, own identity… to the outside world. We’re known as Keller Central but at home, we’re simply “Central Chargers”. “WE ARE CENTRAL” is our motto.

This week’s match-up against Keller marks the 7th time we’ve faced each other and to make this year’s game even more exciting, our overall record is us 3 and them 3. You can bet that adds intensity to the game! The winner of this game will definitely have bragging rights.

The Chargers are FOCUSED

Head Coach Bart Helsley said even though there’s a lot of events surrounding the game that might cause a distraction, anytime there’s a game against Keller, the players ARE FOCUSED. They’re extra intense. The boys also know the game draws a large crowd. And with a large crowd, creates more intensity.

Keller Joins Forces to Fight Against Breast Cancer

While the rivalry against Keller is huge, the game also happens to be our annual PINK OUT game, so even though we fight it out on the field, we join efforts off the field in our fight against breast cancer. The cheerleaders from both schools began this philanthropy work 4 years ago and they’ve raised a total of $100,000 to date! Proceeds are donated to Susan G. Komen.

Each year, more groups get involved so the fundraising efforts and awareness is growing! The PINK OUT shirt is the most notable item which is sold by the cheerleaders. On game day, the stadium is filled with pink shirts, the one game that both sides are sporting the same colored shirt. Our “Fight for the Cure”.

Like I said, the rivalry is HUGE against Keller in all sports, but our partnership brings out the humanities in all of us. School athletics helps teach so many valuable life lessons and life skills but I’m more proud to be involved with a group of students, parents & coaches who also promote philanthropy. Chargers will Win by 2 maybe 3 Touchdowns!

As for the football game this week… the Chargers will come out on TOP! My poll sources tell me Central Chargers will come out on top by 2 (maybe even 3) TDs!  Go Chargers!!!
