Will Waxahachie Axe Corsicana?

Waxahachie IndiansMy name is Chrisanna Melick, and I have been the journalism instructor at Waxahachie High School for 20 years. I also attended WHS as a student and have a deep understanding of the tradition of Waxahachie football.

Thursday’s game is big because we are still trying to discover just what kind of team  we are this season. In the first game, the Indians were dominated by 5A Midlothian, but we followed that up with a complete domination of the West Mesquite Wranglers, an area ranked team, last Friday, 35-0.

The Indians Have Found a Recipe for Success

It looks as though the Indians have found a recipe for success that we hope will continue against Corsicana tonight. Senior quarterback Jake Villarreal did a great job managing the game and the offensive line protected him all night. Three outstanding junior running backs – Ladarron Crawford, Treyvon Hughes, and Isiah Parrish – took over the game rushing for all five touchdowns, and the Indians never looked back.

I think the reason the Indians will win, however, is our outstanding defense, led by Dallas Morning News Defensive Player of the Week Nathan Roberson. Corsicana is a talented team and a victory on the road will go a long way toward showing exactly where the Indians are.
